Page Update
Worked for a good while on website today. Based everything on the concept map. My thought is we go in and explain each of the things entered. use Wikipedia or any source, write a description, hyperlink word with site from where you got info. example, I do tornadoes and i got my info from wiki. I highlight Tornado with my mouse, like you were going to change it to bold or something. Leave it highlighted and go up to link in the tool bar. then go to the web-address option and put the www.whatever in there. then select open another window at bottom and hit ok. Do the same with any pics you put in. Click on the image once you have put it in. make sure there is not a blinking line on side of picture, if so click on pic until it's gone. Also make sure you have your picture where and how you want it, i.e. text wrap on/off or size of pic. So back to click on pic the go to link in tool bar and enter in web-address, the actual site it came from not the just image page, actually in the original website. Kim the intro pic with the four squares, you need to do that with that pic. hope this makes sense. Then we will plug in our lessons and things into there appropriate topics. I don't want to do anything on the book or big bang or intro. I can do tools and the larger topics if you ladies want. Doesn't matter. Feel free to change anything. This setup was just meant to give us a solid foundation now we need to just customize it. I won't be back on until tomorrow(Friday night). Let me know any comment or concerns. Later

get popping
for sure. I'll get on there tomorrow and try and figure some stuff out. The word you click on that takes you somewhere else is a hyperlink. i'll try and figure that out as well. Work on anything offline that you think you can. Like if there is a section you want to start on you can type stuff up on word and then copy and paste it in when the page is setup. get that extra assignment done and ready, basically just go thru the list on the elearning site and prep anything that you can. Then we will plug it in when we get the e-pages or whatever it is figured out. Study other pages and examples for ideas. post what you think or have.

Web Page
We need to decide who's doing what? If I do the lesson plan page where all our lessons we created are on it i will then need each of you to go in and put your lessons in the page. I know i don't want to do the introduction on the first page;) I'm gonna finish the last concept map by the weekend and put it on the page. Any ideas of what your new lessons/tools we need to create are gonna be or what their about. I may create another movie, not sure. Let me know what you ladies are thinking.

Web Page
Ok I started a web page. The email that I used for the team email was WMUweathermonitoring@gmail.com. The password is weathermonitoring. Here is the link for the web page but I am pretty sure you have to be signed in in the email thing to do anyting with it. Um the layout is not what I want. I think it is just a default. I am working with it some right now but not sure where that is all gonna go to yet. Just wanted to let you know. I feel like if we all work on it a little bit at a time it should be stress free.

Podcast
Adam-
We have finished and are now trying to send Kelsey our files but we are expierencing some problems actually getting them sent. Amanda and I did the first two sets of the podcast so u will be doing the ending point of the podcast. We have already talked about PBL and also about the use of blogs that was in the textbook. We covered creating the collabartive blog and the concept map creation on the actual blog. We have also talked about the epals assignment with the google maps and the use of virtual field trips. We have talked about bookmarking, hotlists, levels of discussions, and questions for checking in. Please go ahead with the ideas you have about we have done (such as the taskstream and MovieMaker) and finish this thing up!!! :-)

ideas
this is what i interpret this as. we talk about what we are doing and have done so far as if this was to be seen by parents and students. what things we talk about is up to us i guess. As far as stuff from the book i think chapter 5: project management strategies for teachers and learners, has some good stuff. Especially the stuff starting on page 84 about project management with technology. looking at the whole project there is a lot of stuff we can cover, but what do we choose to put into a 1-2 minute podcast? almost like trying to put an elephant in a phone booth.

.....
I have to work on it tomorrow. That is my only day off of work that I can. I am still not sure about what concepts she wants us to use, but I am going to have to decide tonight. Hopefully this project turns out okay since we don't understand it too well. I will keep you posted of what ideas I come up with.

Collaborative Podcast
Ok guys, I am a little confused on this podcast thing. I know we have to discuss what everyone is doing, but we should probably decide together to make sure it all flows when collaborated. Any ideas?

epals google map
View Weather Monitoring in a larger map
This map includes the cities involved in the epals project. There is the latitude and longitude, elevation, average tempearature / preipitaition / snowfall / rainy days, for each city. There is also the distance between each city and Kalamazoo.
Epals Lesson Plan
Grade Level:4
Objective: This assignment will be done in the middle of the unit. You want students to be able to see that there are different types of weather other than what they expierence. You also want the students to be able to see that different cultures measure weather in different ways.
Procedure:
Break the students up into three groups. One group of students will be doing the epal assignment with students that are in Miami, Fl. One group of students will be doing the epals assignment with students from Manchester England. One group will be doing the assignment with students from Ushuaia Argentina.
Have a class meeting about what kinds of things that you want them to find out by doing the epals assignment. Assume that you want both groups to ask the same types of questions for each location. The questions that you want to come out of this disscussion are: How often does it rain? Does it snow where you live? If so when does it snow? What is your temperature like? What months are the warmest and how warm does it get? What months are the coldest and how cold does it get? What would be your average temperature? How do you measure the temperature? Is it measured in Celcius or Farenheit? When is your summer, winter, spring, and fall?
After the students have done their questioning with thier epals they will complie the information together. They will conference with the people from thier group and decide how they are going to present what they found to their classmates. These are large groups so the teacher will need to do monitoring to be sure the students are getting the work accomplished. The presentation of the information they have found is up to the students but in some way they will be asked to use a line graph when presenting.
Closure: After each group has had a chance to present their findings they will be asked to write in their journals to compare and contrast the weather from Miami Florida, Manchester England, and Ushuaia Argentina with the type of weather that they expierence.

The Website that I am evaluating
http://www.weatherwizkids.com/
http://www.wildwildweather.com/
http://www.theweatherchannelkids.com/
Kim, you are not being overbearing and I am glad you get things done quickly. Same goes to you too, Adam. It is nice to have everyone participate in the group instead of having to hunt them down for their information. I believe these website will be very beneficial to our project and will evaluate them as soon as I can.

Here are the three websites that I am evaluating
http://www.miamisci.org/hurricane/weatherstation.html
http://www.wxdude.com/
http://sln.fi.edu/weather/index.html
*** Remember that we all have to have different sites that we are evaluating. I am thinking we should use sites that would better help the students how to monitor weather. I didnt use one but I think we should also use something like the weather channel website so that they can actually monitor the weather. It is up to however that you guys want to do it. I have put in more than my two cents in and I feel like I am overbearing. I just like to see things get done. Those are my ideas. I would just use kid friendly sites or something that the teacher can take from a website and utilize.

concept map
I think that's a good start. I think wind should be in there somehow, whether it be a new heading or sub heading. Maybe something to do with tools used to monitor the weather. The pressure would fall into that, but maybe some technology like doppler radar and things of the like. What else do we need for this module. Let me know. I'm leaving for Miami early, early Saturday morning.

Concept Map
Hey guys! If it is ok with you I am going to do the first concept map. I have a good feel for how it should be. I am thinking off of weather monitoring I could have temperature with celcius and fareinheit. Another part coming off would be precipitation. Humidity would be another detail. Barometric Pressure might be an idea off of it. Another idea steming from weather monitoring would be visibility. The last idea I would have would be the Dew Point. Is there anything else that you would like for me to add to the concept map???
